JACKIE LEE IS BEST GENESIS ENTREPRENEUR


SINGAPORE, 7 SEPTEMBER 2007 -
SPH Magazines Pte Ltd (SPH Magazines) conveys its heartiest congratulations to Dr Jackie Lee Choon Yau, CEO of Hardware Zone Pte Ltd (Hardware Zone), its wholly-owned subsidiary, for the prestigious recognition conferred by the NUS Business Incubation of Global Organisations for his entrepreneurial spirit. Dr Lee was a winner of the Genesis award (Technology Business) at the 2nd Entrepreneurship Awards 2007 held at the NUS University Cultural Centre, on 3 September 2007.

Receiving his trophy from Minister Lim Swee Say, the Minister in the Prime Minister's Office of Singapore and the Secretary-General of the National Trades Union Congress, the guest-of-honour at the ceremony, Dr Lee beamed: “I am indeed honoured to be given this award. It’s one of the best rewards in my life. I have made it," said Dr Lee, "Looking back the past ten years, I haven't a single doubt if this road I've chosen is the right one. I just stayed on even when times were tough. Now, it pays off."

The Entrepreneurship Awards started in 2005 by NUS Business Incubation of Global Organisations (NUS BINGO) and the NUS Faculty of Engineering Technopreneurship Incubation Program (TIP). It is to celebrate the entrepreneurial achievements of NUS alumni, staff and students. Of the several awards given out, the Genesis Award is presented to the one for his courage to strike out on their own and their tenacity to persevere in their businesses. The winners' initiative and creativeness to try new things and success to grow in their industry are valued characteristics for the judges' too. The recipients embody the spirit of entrepreneurship to the finest.

Dr Lee just celebrated his 31 birthday on 2 September 2007 and is married with one son. Dr Lee was at National University of Singapore, enrolled in the discipline of Electrical Engineering (Honours) from 1997 to 2000. He completed 3 years of Electrical Engineering before taking sabbatical leave for start up his IT online business which became Hardware Zone of today. In 2003, Dr Lee was conferred a Ph.D in Business Entrepreneurship by Burkes University, UK.
